Your place in the team

Whether you’ve played at a high level, played at school or never played at all — getting started is simple.

Getting started

Four steps to court

  1. Get in touch

Email us at puvc2022@gmail.com or message us on Instagram @portsmouthunitedvc. Tell us a little about your experience.

  2. Come to a session

We train on Thursdays, 19:50–21:50, at Chichester College. Check training details and what to bring.

  3. Join us on Spond

We use Spond to organise training and matches. We’ll send you an invite to the club group.

  4. Become a member

Set up your monthly membership standing order and you’re part of the club. League players also register with Volleyball England — we’ll help you with that. By joining, you agree to our club terms.

Questions

Good to know

Do I need to have played before?

No. We welcome complete beginners as well as experienced players. Tell us your level and we’ll point you to the right session.

How old do I need to be?

Players need to be 18 or over. If you’re under 18, you’re welcome to join us, but your parent or guardian must be present with you at all club activities — training, matches and events.

How do I get into the NVL squad?

Trials are currently closed, as the 2026/27 season has started. Do still get in touch at puvc2022@gmail.com if you’d like to be considered — we look at requests case by case.

What should I wear?

Comfortable sports kit and indoor court shoes with non-marking soles. Knee pads are recommended.

Can I come and watch first?

Of course. Home league matches are a great way to meet the club — see fixtures.
